The Blessing of Being Single

Before I delve into these thoughts I would like to just take a moment and say I adore Godly marriages! I look forward to being married one day (Lord willing) and I love the thought of being a wife and a mom.
So this is not a "single is the only way to go" or "up with singleness, down with marriage" or even a "singleness is better than marriage" post.
This is simply a post about my current season of life and the great blessings I see in this season.
That being said, I also love being single!
Now, I don't always *love* the salutary, unmarried, having no man to lean on, side of singleness, but, I do love being single, and this post is about why that is.
Also, I would like to add that just because I love these things about being single, does not mean I think they are only things that you can experience while you are single. Some of these thing (maybe all) will overlap into married life, but like I said, I'm not married, I'm single, and these are some things I like about that. 😁

1. I have learned, in being single, the very great satisfaction there is in Jesus as your provider and protector, but most of all as your confidant, companion, counselor, and consoler.
2. I have seen and experienced the joy of walking alongside my family in very close relationships, as we minister for Jesus, together. I have also been free to help them in ways I couldn't if I were married. For instance, spending a year and a half  moving around from place to place, as I was needed, to help with one child or another and being able to be available and not have to think about the duties of husband and home.
3. The freedom to travel overseas.
I am thankful that I am not tied down to responsibilities that keep me from being able to travel overseas. However this one is a little tricky, because each time I have been overseas I have thought about what a great blessing, support, strength, and help it would be to have a man serving and standing with me.
4. The freedom to help my siblings with their kids and be "the fun auntie".
5. The Liberty to just follow Jesus wherever He leads.
6. To be able to have such a close relationship with my parents.
7. To walk in the will of God for my life, knowing it is His will for this season, and seeing the many ways He has opened up my eyes to His beauty in this season.
8. To learn how to trust Jesus with the pen of my life, knowing He will write a better story than I, and to watch that story unfold before my eyes.

It is a good life we have been given when we truly live Life (John14:6)! Whether you are single, married or in a relationship that is moving towards marriage, I would encourage you to take some time today and thank God for the ways He has blessed you in this season of life! (1The 5:18, Phil 4:6)

Have a blessed day!

Consecrate

Because I love you I will follow
Here’s my life, I lay it down at Your feet
No longer I, now it’s all for Christ
Even if I’m called to sow in tears
Your love shall cast away my fears
My heart and flesh may fail
But God is the strength of my heart
And my portion forever is He
Because I love you I will follow
Here’s my life, I lay it down at Your feet
No longer I, now it’s all for Christ
Even if I’m called to sow in tears
Your love shall cast away my fears
My heart and flesh may fail
But God, You’re the strength of my heart
And my portion forever is He
There’s nothing I desire more than You
But till I’m in Your arms here’s what I’ll do
I will consecrate my life
I will place you like a seal over my heart
You and I, lives exchanged
Now your blood runs through these veins
I’ll put on Your signet ring
I will serve You as long as I live
Watching and waiting until you come back for me
Watching and waiting until
Watching and waiting until
Watching and waiting until
You come back for me

The Song of My Heart

Jesus I am Resting, Resting

Words: Jean S. Pigott, 1876.

Jesus, I am resting, resting,

In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
Thou hast bid me gaze upon Thee,
And Thy beauty fills my soul,
For by Thy transforming power,
Thou hast made me whole.

Refrain

Jesus, I am resting, resting,
In the joy of what Thou art;
I am finding out the greatness
Of Thy loving heart.
O, how great Thy loving kindness,
Vaster, broader than the sea!
O, how marvelous Thy goodness,
Lavished all on me!
Yes, I rest in Thee, Belovèd,
Know what wealth of grace is Thine,
Know Thy certainty of promise,
And have made it mine.

Refrain

Simply trusting Thee, Lord Jesus,
I behold Thee as Thou art,
And Thy love, so pure, so changeless,
Satisfies my heart;
Satisfies its deepest longings,
Meets, supplies its every need,
Compasseth me round with blessings:
Thine is love indeed!

Refrain

Ever lift Thy face upon me
As I work and wait for Thee;
Resting ’neath Thy smile, Lord Jesus,
Earth’s dark shadows flee.
Brightness of my Father’s glory,
Sunshine of my Father’s face,
Keep me ever trusting, resting,
Fill me with Thy grace.

Refrain
